Other related initiatives are in progress

At national level, funds from several sources to be obtained (scientific projects, R&D program for components, ship time…) to implement local sites.

At international level (for instance Mediterranean tsunami warning system under the umbrella of IOC).

The Deep Sea Floor Frontier initiative aims to develop a major coordinated European research and technology effort on deep sea floor science. Deep-SF initiative is approaching European Commission to benefit from Article 169 to integrate national programs.

A first step has already been initiated by the constitution of national groups within ESONET Network of Excellence …
